Medical Assistant
About the Role
Under general supervision, the Medical Assistant assists nurses, providers, and care navigators to support patient-care related functions. Medical Assistants are a critical and valued part of STRIDE's care team. This role may be required to travel to other clinics for coverage, as needed. When necessary and after appropriate training/competency validation, the Medical Assistant may perform front-office functions including, but not limited to registering/checking-in patients, obtaining co-pay, obtaining consent, working registration error queues, and other duties as assigned by the Front Desk supervisor or Business Operations.

- Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM
- Work Location: Smoky Hill Clinic
Essential Duties
- Performs examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures within scope of practice and in accordance with organization policies, procedures, and workflows.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations; appropriately responding to emergency codes; communicating safety issues/concerns timely and appropriately.
- Maintains patient care and non-patient care records in a confidential, accurate, and timely manner.
- Prepares paperwork for provider signature by completing as much information as possible before submitting to provider.
- Escalates patient/customer concerns to professional/licensed staff when appropriate.
- Performs opening and closing lab procedures including quality control, autoclaving, and packaging of instruments.
- Coordinates pre-visit planning sessions (huddles), rooms patients in preparation for their visit, performs pre and post visit patient care in accordance with STRIDE policies, performs "Nurse" or "Medical Assistant" visits for specimen collection or protocolized care, schedules internal/external patient appointments, instructs/educates patients on topics appropriate to scope, maintains adequate inventory of supplies and notifies clinic leader when supply ordering is required.
- Registers, checks-in, and checks-out patients for all services.
- Collects and uploads all necessary documentation and consents.
- Promptly and accurately updates patient records including financial and demographic information.
- Collects copayment and account balances at time of service.
- Completes annual competency assessment.
- Adheres to professional standards, policies/procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, accreditation standards.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Non-Essential Duties
- Attends all staff meetings and all other meetings as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma or GED
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and CPR certification
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) program with a certificate of completion
Preferred:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA, CMA, or RMA) certification preferred
- Bilingual language proficiency highly preferred
- One year of back-office medical assistant experience or demonstrated proficiency in clinical support duties preferred

- Proficiency in a variety of software including but not limited to the internet, Microsoft 365 applications, and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
Pay
- Non-Certified Medical Assistants: $21.59 - $27.19 per hour, depending on experience
- Certified Medical Assistants: $22.59 - $28.19 per hour, depending on experience

Working Environment
Office environment within a clinical setting. Enters data into computer programs via computer, mouse and keyboard. Moves/transports objects up to 25 lbs frequently and up to 75 lbs occasionally. Communicates information to others. Discerns/analyzes information from others to assist in decision making.
