About the role
The Medical Assistant supports the practice with overall responsibility for maintaining efficiency of patient flow. They perform clinical duties such as maintaining universal precautions, rooming patients, taking vital signs, performing phlebotomy, administering vaccines, and performing treatments and procedures as ordered by the provider. Administrative duties include answering practice education inquiries, counseling, performing various testing and screenings, maintaining patients' rooms, setting up and stocking supplies, and making appointments.
Responsibilities
- Greets patients and escorts them into exam rooms.
- Assists with procedures, including minor and complex ones, under supervision.
- Takes vital signs and documents them.
- Answers phones, schedules appointments, processes orders, and prepares patient charts.
- Coordinates room rotations and assists with receiving test results.
- Cleans instruments and equipment following infection control guidelines.
- Maintains sterilizer competencies.
- Ensures excellent customer service and maintains a positive attitude.
- Communicates schedule changes to relevant parties.
- Cross-trains to assist in front desk duties.
- Trains new employees and participates in evaluations.
- Works weekends and holidays.
- Adheres to safety protocols and demonstrates required competencies.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Experience: Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support required, CMA - Certified Medical Assistant certificate preferred.

- Extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and English grammar.

Skills
- Computer proficiency, including Meditech, Lotus Notes, i-Heal.
- Effective email and telephone communications.
- Proficiency in using computer applications.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and English grammar.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to read, understand, and respond to detailed oral and written instructions.
- Ability to lead and take direction from Nursing Supervisor.

Schedule
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
