Responsibilities
- Locate patients and obtain accurate vital signs by visual and auditory measures.
- Triage patients, assess their medical condition, and prepare them for physicals and medical treatment by Physicians and Nurses.
- Use the electronic medical record system.
- Order lab, x-ray, and medical supplies as directed.
- Notify the Nurse and/or Physician when the patient is ready for exam, communicate symptoms, and relay questions about lab or x-ray needs.
- Assist Nurses and Physicians with various forms of patient treatment and care.
- Handle Physician and Nurse requests with respect and in a timely manner.
- Perform lab duties as assigned, including phlebotomy procedures.
- Sterilize and set up instruments.
- Receive and store supplies; restock treatment rooms as needed.
- Report to the Charge Nurse before leaving at the end of the shift.
- Follow ancillary guidelines as deemed necessary by the Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, DMS, and Physician.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness of the treatment area and complete biological cleanup in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
- Wash, dry, fold, and restock laundry; maintain the cleanliness of the washing machine and dryer lint trap.
- Attend staff meetings as scheduled by the Nurse Supervisor or DMS.
- Operate, use, and maintain medical and office equipment as trained.
- Complete assigned checklists and Policy Manager tasks within the assigned shift.
- Be available to assist as needed; breaks and mealtimes may be interrupted to provide necessary patient care or maintain center operations.
- Foster teamwork and ensure a positive and professional atmosphere.
- Provide positive, warm, and friendly service in all interactions.
- Understand and perform all duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum typing experience.
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a hospital or physician’s office preferred.
- Ability to hear pages, bells, and phone system.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time (possibly 4 to 7 hours at a time).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to attend scheduled CPR classes and code drills.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Willingness to work at any center due to staffing or center emergency or reduction of work.
