DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inputs all personal data and information required to identify and complete each physical examination.
• Performs and records vital signs, height, weight, and anthropometric measurements.
• Orders and records blood, urine specimens, and other laboratory tests required to complete the physical examinations.
• Enters and uses the existing computer systems designed for these procedures.
• Orders and records radiographic examinations required to complete the physical examinations to include additional exams as necessary.
• Performs and records all paraprofessional screening examinations required to complete examinations for flying duty IAW the PEM, MSD and DAFMAN 48-123.
• Records results of 12-lead electrocardiogram.
• Identifies, interprets, and applies medical standards on all physical examinations in accordance with the MSD, DAFMAN 48-123, and the USAF Aeromedical Waiver Guide.
• Performs all examinations data entries in PEPP.
• Enters data in the AIMWTS.
• Interprets and records Medical Flight Screening (MFS) examination information in the MFS Web Interface and updates all required demographics.
• Accomplishes pre-screening review of medical documents for disqualifying conditions in accordance with the MDS, DAFMAN 48-123 and USAF Waiver Guide and determines adequate documentation to either justify necessary specialty referral appointments during the week of the exam or cancellation of appointment after certification and waiver authority agreement.
• Maintains accurate patient demographic entry to the FAA MedXpress Website.
• Attends training for dental x-ray proficiency as necessary and performs dental x-rays in the absence of the dental technician.
• Supports training requests to demonstrate and describe routine MFS Branch functions and how it supports the USAF aircrew medical examination, as well as the overall flying training mission, to students and executive personnel.
• Accomplishes task competency review sessions on a different subset of MFS Branch technician tasks quarterly with other medical technician staff to improve task proficiency.
• Maintains proper filing of all completed examinations and updates tracking database.
• Verifies that exam type matches MAJCOM request for proper flying training medical qualification.
• Assists in any other duties required to perform and complete each physical examination.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

• Must have BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Two (2) years of experience working as a medical technician.
• Basic computer skills and ability to work with internal computer programs.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Working knowledge of a range of equipment including anthropometric measuring devices, audiometric measuring devices, and basic optometry visual measurement devices such as the OVT and the IOP machines is highly desired.
• Knowledge of Flight Medicine programs such as CHCS, PEPP, and AIMWTS, and be knowledgeable of DAFMANs pertinent to Flight Medicine standards is highly desired.
