About the role
The Medical Assistant (MA) will be responsible for direct patient care and provides clinical support to providers.
Responsibilities
- Obtaining patient medical history information
- Expediting patient flow, rooming patients
- Stocking the clinic with supplies
- Navigating the electronic health record system
- Scheduling and follow-up with appointments
- Assisting with medication fill requests, prior authorizations and scheduling tests, procedures, and consults
- Communicating with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients and physicians respectfully
- Following UK Healthcare behavioral expectations for service excellence
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- One of the following:
- State Registered Nurse Assistant (SRNA)
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Registered Nurse (RN) nursing student who has completed first fundamental course and a clinical
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) / medic including military medic
- Graduate from a medical assistant program
- Graduate from a licensed practical nursing program
- Clinical Services Technician (CST) III at UK in the last 12 months
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) for the Healthcare Provider at time of hire
Physical requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds on a daily basis
- Ability to stand, walk and sit for long periods of time
- Work may involve exposure to communicable diseases and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments
Schedule
Monday – Friday, Day Shift; primarily 8:00AM – 5:00PM (40 hrs/wk); other hours/schedule as needed.
Pay
Minimum hourly rate $18.20/hour; all pay rates based on candidate's experience.
Preferred experience
One year of clinical experience.
