About the role
As a Medical Assistant at Monument Health, you will be an essential team member providing compassionate, patient-focused care in an ambulatory clinic setting. You will collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver direct and indirect patient care, actively participate in team-based care, and perform tasks in accordance with Monument Health policies and procedures. Responsibilities
- Prepare examination and treatment areas per clinic standards.
- Complete patient rooming procedures, including vital signs, data collection, and other clinic-specific components within outlined scope.
- Administer and document unit dose medications and immunizations accurately, following clinic policy and successful training/competency.
- Perform EKGs and laboratory testing per the clinic’s CLIA license after successful training/competency.
- Ensure accurate, clear, and concise documentation in patient records within outlined scope; may function as a provider scribe after training.
- Complete assigned clerical activities and supply maintenance/ordering as directed.
- Assist with scheduling follow-up care/appointments as ordered.
- Distribute pre-printed/pre-approved patient education materials; direct patient questions to provider or RN.
- Function within the documented Monument Health Scope of Responsibilities.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or accredited training program.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (MA) by one of the following certifying bodies:
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
- National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Professional Certification (American Heart Association) within 60 days of hire or transfer. Some departments may require certification sooner.
- Medical Assistants hired between July 1, 2021, and June 30, 2024, may be granted 6 months to obtain national certification. Those hired after July 1, 2024, must hold certification upon hire.

Pay
Starting pay rate range: $20.45 - $23.51 per hour, determined by the knowledge, skills, and experience of the applicant.
Schedule
- Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
- Requires the ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department.
Physical Requirements
Heavy work: exerting up to 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), up to 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and up to 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time). Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.
