Medical Assistant, Gastroenterology
About the role
The Mass General Brigham Medical Group is seeking a part-time, 24-hour Medical Assistant to support our team at 1 Parkway in Haverhill, MA. The schedule will be 8:30am to 5:00pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Responsibilities
- Takes vital signs, documents patient information, schedules appointments, and manages patient flow.
- Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities.
- Supports healthcare teams by preparing necessary equipment for healthcare providers, interviewing patients, explaining treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions, and performing general office duties.
- Maintains inventory of immunizations and checks expiration dates.
- Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.
- Improves appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting preferred
- Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required
- Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - preferred
