The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is seeking a Medicaid Certified Doula to support the EMPOWER Study. The EMPOWER study aims to improve the quality of healthcare for women of color and marginalized communities during the post-partum period through community-engaged approaches, focusing on preventing and managing hypertension and mental health outcomes.
About the role
- Support the EMPOWER Study in improving healthcare quality for women of color and marginalized communities
- Engage with community members to address health inequities from a social determinants of health perspective
- Work under the guidance of EMPOWER program leadership
Responsibilities
- Provide doula services to participants in the EMPOWER Study
- Collaborate with community partners to facilitate community engagement activities
- Collect and analyze data related to the study outcomes
- Report findings to EMPOWER program leadership and stakeholders
Requirements
- Training and on-the-ground hands-on experience in community engagement
- Demonstrated commitment to addressing health inequities
- Experience working with women of color and marginalized communities
- Knowledge of social determinants of health
Qualifications
- Medicaid Certified Doula certification
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., public health, sociology, nursing)
- Experience in research and data collection
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
