Prepare Vitek susceptibility and identification media and/or sub-components, set up and verify dispensing systems, ensure timely delivery of high-quality product to Card production, prepare Clean-In-Place solutions, maintain training and procedural compliance, organize workstations, and perform housekeeping and maintenance functions in the production department.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all work in the Production Department safely in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform and document complex manufacturing steps and verification as described in company procedures, including but not limited to:
    • Ensure media and/or sub-component preparation is completed accurately and on time based on the production schedule.
    • Conduct filtrations, including checks to ensure all filters function properly per procedure.
    • Verify media is appropriately labeled, manufactured, and stored according to regulatory and Master Formulary specifications.
    • Operate equipment (e.g., steam kettles) and perform Clean-In-Place (CIP) operations.
    • Set up media dispensing with speed and accuracy (e.g., setting pump dispense volume, placing dispense head, verifying connections, and bag numbering).
  • Assist with end-of-lot documentation review for Device History Record and Master Formulary, following all documentation procedures and policies.
  • Report scheduling or availability issues with planned products in MES to management or scheduler.
  • Adapt to abrupt changes in daily tasks due to unplanned events.
  • Inspect and ensure all equipment is calibrated and in working order before performing manufacturing tasks; report and manage repairs to prevent production delays.
  • Perform start-up and shut-down procedures for lab equipment as described in company procedures and policies.
  • Maintain adequate inventories of general lab supplies and inform the designated purchasing resource when additional items are needed.
  • Maintain FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) for all long-term stocks, broths, and chemical components.
  • Participate in new product development and assist with transitioning new products from R&D and Industrialization to production as required.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of wet chemistry and/or bench work experience.

Qualifications

  • Preferred:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry).
    • Knowledge of sterile techniques and general laboratory procedures.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs, ladders, ramps, and similar structures.
  • Ability to wear PPE correctly for most of the day.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery.
  • Ability to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
  • May be exposed to and required to handle antibiotics and hazardous materials.
  • May be exposed to odors incurred during media production.
  • May be required to work extended and/or overtime hours.

Pay

The pay for this role in the state of Missouri is $23.00 per hour. This role is eligible for a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMérieux’s bonus program.
