About the role
The Nights & Weekends Sound and Light Supervisor manages the technical, audio-visual and lighting plans to support the University's department, organizations and outside clients. The Supervisor also handles sound and light issues in the MSC happening throughout Non traditional business hours. This position develops and creates comprehensive event experience packages to plan and help enhance the faculty, students and client experience. This position will hire, train and supervise a student support staff to manage events and meetings in the Marshall Student Center.
Responsibilities
- Works with MSC clients to meet their expectations, respond to inquiries and assist during live events.
- Solves SNL issues that may occur during events happening throughout the building.
- Serves as point of contact for sound and light issues for students, staff and clients the day of event as well as handling client and customer complaints and issues.
- Works with Sound & Light Manager to ensure all SNL equipment is stored and inventoried properly and in good working order.
- Works with the Associate Director of Event Logistics & Student Development and Sound & Light Manager on set-up and breakdown procedures, emergency procedures, and plan for upgrades in building technological infrastructure, room equipment and other projects as needed.
- Attends weekly MSC production meetings, sits in on planning meetings when needed.
- Assesses the quality of services provided by the MSC Sound and Light Department in order to continually makes recommendations for improvement and ensures students are adhering to the mission and behaviors of the MSC while working with the Sound & Light Manager on maintaining the sound and light equipment while solving issues, before, during and after events.
- This includes supervising and inspecting SNL setups, assisting with high-level events, assisting with updating student employee manuals, planning student staff retreats, employee appreciation recognition week activities.
- Works with MSC Event Planners and Conference Services team regarding clients needs and expectations, mandatory presence for BOG, BOT, Presidential, Provost, VP of Student Affairs and VIP events. Also serves as consultant for large scale on and off campus events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with three years of audio-visual equipment operation or related experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and one year of audio and visual experience. Two years of experience in a higher education setting or hospitality.
Pay
$43,000.00 annually ($20.67/hr)
