Media Relations Manager – USA Health & Public Services
Accenture is seeking a dynamic Media Relations Manager to support our work in the Health & Public Service industry for the USA market. This role reports to the Global Media Relations Lead for Accenture’s Public Service industry group and is part of Accenture’s Corporate Communications function.
About the role
The Media Relations Manager is responsible for promoting and protecting the brand by generating top-tier media coverage in influential business and key industry trade publications, as well as mitigating potential negative coverage. The role involves shaping messaging about digital innovation and transformation in the Health & Public Service sectors, crafting stories that illustrate how organizations can overcome challenges and harness opportunities through collaboration and reinvention. The position also includes protecting Accenture’s reputation through effective issues and crisis management.
This individual will collaborate closely with Public Service Industries marketing and business leaders, as well as national, industry, business, and global media relations colleagues, to leverage content for relevant stories. The role also supports an executive positioning program for select Public Service senior leaders through media relations, speaking engagements, and strategic partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Implement an earned media strategy for Public Service, aligning with marketing teams to develop themes and messaging that reflect industry trends and major events. Manage an editorial calendar for thought leadership launches, byline contributions, client announcements, and internal news coordination.
- Contribute to issues management by monitoring emerging risks, assessing reputational impact, and coordinating response plans with business, legal, government relations, and communications stakeholders.
- Drive executive positioning platforms by leveraging subject matter experts and developing content pipelines for media relations on client stories, research, and thought leadership.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to craft proactive media outreach and briefing initiatives around key industry events.
- Monitor the competitive landscape for media mentions and share of voice to improve Accenture’s industry position.
- Conduct market, competitor, and influencer research to inform positioning and external marketing and communications plans.
- Manage and develop professional relationships with key journalists and client peers.
- Work with the industry marketing and communications team to create and execute social media initiatives for Public Service industry executives.
- Ensure media relations initiatives align with Accenture’s strategic business objectives.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in corporate media relations, either in-house or agency.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in media issues or crisis management.
- Ability to travel approximately 10%.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
- Experience in the health and public services industry.
- Strong relationships with industry business and trade press/media influencers covering the public service space.
- Experience building strong working relationships and providing strategic counsel to senior leadership.
- Ability to leverage social media to augment and amplify media relations programs.
- Broad-based business acumen and ability to quickly grasp Accenture’s business strategy.
- Global perspective and understanding of the business marketplace; inquisitive nature with a desire to learn about economic and business drivers, the technology ecosystem, and Accenture’s business.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic support and counsel; issues management experience is a plus.

Pay
Compensation varies based on factors such as location, role, skill set, and experience. Below are the anticipated annual salary ranges for this role by location:
- California: $94,400 to $224,600
- Cleveland: $87,400 to $179,700
- Colorado: $94,400 to $194,100
- District of Columbia: $100,500 to $206,700
- Illinois: $87,400 to $194,100
- Maine: $80,400 to $165,300
- Maryland: $94,400 to $194,100
- Massachusetts: $94,400 to $206,700
- Minnesota: $94,400 to $194,100
- New York: $87,400 to $224,600
- New Jersey: $100,500 to $224,600
- Virginia: $87,400 to $206,700
