Position Description

The position serves as the Media Production Specialist for the Unemployment Insurance Agency, reporting to the Communications Manager. The role involves promoting the Agency, its goals, and its staff through various multimedia projects, collaborating with the Communications Team and Agency Leadership, and assisting in the development of multimedia communication strategies.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in communications arts, journalism, digital media and information, broadcast and cinematic arts, video and media production, multimedia design, or television and radio.

  • Professional experience in directing, producing, and writing media related programs, equivalent to a Media Production Specialist 9.

  • Two years of professional experience in directing, producing, and writing media related programs, including one year equivalent to a Media Production Specialist 10.

Alternate Education and Experience

  • Completion of 60 semester (90) term credits including 24 semester (36 term) credits in any combination of course work in the following areas: communications arts, digital media and information, video and media production, multimedia design, or television and radio, AND two years of experience directing, producing, and writing media related programs may be substituted for the education requirement.

  • Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and four years of experience directing, producing, and writing media related programs may be substituted for the education requirement.

Salary and Background Checks

The salary for this position is entirely federally funded. Under federal law, an employee whose salary is entirely federally funded may not be a candidate for public office in a partisan election. Certain positions within the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity may also require state criminal, fingerprint-based, and driving record background checks.
