To provide media services for students, teaching staff, and building-level administration in a helpful, positive, congenial, and flexible manner.
Responsibilities
- Work on projects with the media specialist.
- Work cooperatively with students and staff in a learner-centered environment.
- Balance many tasks while prioritizing and addressing frequent interruptions.
- Be a self-starter and work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Supervise the circulation desk, including the circulation and shelving of materials.
- Assist students with location of appropriate instructional and recreational materials and supervise book exchange.
- Have a working knowledge of computer applications, the library automation system, and Dewey Decimal classification.
- Supervise use of media center computers for research and develop a working knowledge of research databases.
- Be responsible for distributing, operating, and troubleshooting audio-visual and other technology equipment.
- Work with media specialist to promote a lifetime appreciation of reading through special promotions and reading aloud to students.
- Check in and process new materials.
- Assist media specialists with bulletin boards and media center displays.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Equipment
- Standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier, fax machines, calculator, and telephone.
Travel Requirements
Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Pay
$15.75 per hour.
Schedule
7.5 hours per day (Middle School & 6th Grade Academies). 195 days per year (6th Grade and Middle School).

Physical and Mental Demands
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time (Seldom = Less than 25%).
- Ability to lift 25 pounds (Occasional = 26 to 50%).
- Ability to carry 25 pounds (Occasional = 26 to 50%).
- Ability to work at a desk, conference table, or in meetings of various configurations (Very Frequent = Greater than 75%).
- Ability to see for the purpose of reading laws and codes, rules and policies, and other printed matter (Very Frequent = Greater than 75%).
- Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation (Very Frequent = Greater than 75%).
- Ability to operate job-related equipment (Very Frequent = Greater than 75%).
- Ability to reach in all directions (Very Frequent = Greater than 75%).
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience is preferred.
