About the Role

Perpich Arts High School is seeking a highly motivated long-term substitute Cinema Arts Instructor for the 2026–2027 school year. This position teaches one 80-minute Cinema Arts course each quarter (four courses during the school year) between 12:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid Minnesota teaching license in Visual Arts (with focus in media), or ability to obtain an OFP by August 15th

• Experience teaching cinema arts or media arts at the high school level
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Positive interpersonal skills and ability to relate well to students, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Master of Fine Arts (MFA) or related advanced degree
• Background as working filmmaker, cinematographer, editor, or media artist
• Active creative practice with connections to the professional film/media arts community
• Experience with industry-standard productions and post-production software and equipment

Schedule

This is a one-year, 10-month position; schedule is based on the school calendar. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 12:15 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. (Day Shift).

Pay

Salary range: $29.03 – $56.39/hour. Job classification (Arts Education Teacher 2-9) and salary will be determined based on the selected applicant's experience and degree.
