About the role
The CTE Media Arts Teacher is responsible for delivering specific course content, providing instruction, support, and guidance in various aspects of digital media production, including video and photography, graphic design, and digital communications. The Teacher will also create engaging lesson plans and supplementary materials to manage the learning process utilizing technology effectively to enhance the student learning experience.
Responsibilities

- Provides rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students through lectures, workshops, and hands-on training.
- Commitment to personalizing learning for all students. Demonstrates a belief in all students' ability to succeed and meet high expectations.
- Utilize technology effectively to enhance the learning experience, including but not limited to, digital tools, software, and other equipment.
- Teach students skills in video and photography, graphic design and digital communications using software like Adobe Suite.
- Guiding students in developing digital communication strategies, such as social media marketing or email campaigns.
- Instructing students in the principles of video production, including scriptwriting, camera operation, lighting, and editing.
- Teaching students how to use graphic design software to create visuals for digital media.
- Assist students in developing and maintaining a digital portfolio showcasing their work.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
- Augments course content according to prescribed policies and procedures using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools under guidance from Principal and learning coach/parent.
- Maintains grade book ensuring student academic integrity, and alerts administrators to concerns about student performance and progress.
- Establishes and maintains positive rapport with families and regularly communicates with and responds to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner.
- Supports learning coaches/parents with student curricular and instructional issues, as well as basic troubleshooting that is in line with academy policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with other teachers to integrate digital media into other subject areas.
- Keeps up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in the field of digital media.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Develops effective instructional tools and strategies to supplement and enhance provided curriculum.
- Administers and proctors certification assessments where applicable.
- Supports CTE Program by creating business and industry partnerships to help navigate work-based learning experiences for students.
- Participates in school programs and activities to support student safety, such as morning and afternoon carpool duties, lunch and transition period supervision, and chaperoning field trips.
- Participates in parent communication activities, such as Open House, Orientations, Parent/Teacher Conferences.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding student records.
- Ability to be at work consistently, to be on time, to follow instructions, to respond to direction and to solicit feedback to improve performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher degree (preferred)
- Valid Louisiana Teacher Certificate – OR - CTTIE certification-Digital Communications and media/multimedia – OR - One of the following required IBC’s:
- Adobe Certified Professional in Visual Design, Video Design, or Web Design (License code 85)
- Adobe Certified Expert (License code 144)
- AVID Media Composer Certified User (License Code 62)
- AVID Media Composer Certified Professional (License code 62)
- Relevant industry experience – Graphic Designer, AV Technician, Media Technician, etc.
- 1-year Experience as an Educator in High School or Post-secondary environment (preferred)
Qualifications
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word; PowerPoint
- Ability to provide personal transportation to school(s), work locations, meeting sites, etc.
Other Qualifications
- Physical Demands: Ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and/or other sounds. For example: In person or virtually, on the phone, or over the PA system. Sitting and/or Standing for long periods of time and walking frequently, climbing stairs occasionally. Constantly communicating with others to exchange information accurately, loudly, softly or quickly and effectively. Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force occasionally as needed. Vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, peripheral and ability to adjust focus. Physical restraint of another person or persons as needed.
