Media Arts Teacher

About the role

The position is a long-term substitute Cinema Arts Instructor for the 2026–2027 school year. It involves teaching one 80-minute Cinema Arts course each quarter (four courses during the school year) between 12:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Teach digital filmmaking, cinematography, lighting, sound, editing, and visual storytelling
• Assess student learning
• Maintain grades in Infinite Campus
• Communicate with students and families
• Collaborate with colleagues
• Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with the Minnesota Code of Ethics for Teachers

Requirements

• Valid Minnesota teaching license in Visual Arts (with focus in media), or ability to obtain an OFP by August 15th
• Bachelor’s Degree in Film, Media Arts, Cinema Production, or related field
• Experience teaching cinema arts or media arts at the high school level
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Positive interpersonal skills and ability to relate well to students, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds

Qualifications

• Master of Fine Arts (MFA) or related advanced degree
• Background as working filmmaker, cinematographer, editor, or media artist
• Experience with industry-standard productions and post-production software and equipment

Additional Requirements

• In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Pay

Salary range: $29.03 - $56.39/hour

Schedule

Day shift: Monday - Friday, 12:15 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
