Position Summary

The Emergency Medical Communicator is responsible for all aspects of the operation of MEDCOM, assuring a professional and consistent standard of all communications for Atlantic and Cape May Counties, and all affiliated regional service areas as needed. The Emergency Medical Communicator is responsible for accurately maintaining MEDCOM reports and logs, disbursing incoming paperwork to proper files and personnel and completing thorough shift reports. The Emergency Medical Communicator orients and trains new personnel and assists all departments as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current New Jersey Emergency Medical Dispatcher and 911 Certification required within 3 months from date of hire or transfer. Current BLS certification (professional rescuer or health care provider level) required within one month of hire or transfer. Proof of completing National Incident Command Courses ICS 100 and IS 700 required.
  • Experience: Knowledge of local EMS, and Aero Medical Systems and radio communications preferred. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within the position will be trained appropriately and skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
