Responsibilities

  • Provides higher level support for the laboratory section, often involving specialized testing, Quality Assurance development, and/or development and implementation of new procedures.
  • Tests is routinely performed without supervision, and complex interpretation of results is required.
  • Keeps meticulous notes regarding experimental methods, data, and conclusions, as applicable.
  • Develops and maintains applicable standard operating procedures and policies in collaboration with laboratory area leadership.
  • Communicates with internal and external clients clearly and professionally.
  • Reports to work at assigned UR Labs location/site.

Requirements

  • Under the direction of the laboratory section leadership and with the ability to work independently.
  • Minimum Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field and 4 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist post-licensure required or Master's degree in related field and 2 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist post-licensure required or PhD in related field and 1 year of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist post-licensure required Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Medical Technologist NYS upon hire required or Histotechnologist (HTL) NYS, restricted to Histology Lab upon hire required.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in all aspects of test principles and methodologies and be able to make judgments about applications for specific cases.

Skills

  • Ability to develop and maintain applicable standard operating procedures and policies in collaboration with laboratory area leadership.

  • The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Pay

  • Compensation Range: $38.64 - $52.16

Schedule

  • Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
