Responsibilities
- Maintain technical quality for assigned section and meet all accreditation and licensing requirements.
- Supervise technical skills of staff in assigned laboratory area.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic procedures in assigned laboratory area.
- Maintain quality control, preventive maintenance, and patient records.
- Aid in the orientation of new employees.
- Stay current in technical knowledge and instrument use.
- Teach students in assigned technical area.
- Complete technical competencies for team members.
- May be required to cross-train to other job descriptions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Licensed as a medical technologist in the state of Florida.
- Five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience.
- ASCP or equivalent certification preferred.
- Cognizant ability to correlate results from a variety of tests and relate to treatment of patients.
- Able to multitask and learn a variety of instrumentation and software systems to perform testing and result interpretation.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, College of American Pathology, and/or AABB accreditation standards.
- Knowledge of both Federal and State Regulations on Clinical Laboratories.
Skills
- Cognizant ability to correlate results from a variety of tests and relate to treatment of patients.
- Able to multitask and learn a variety of instrumentation and software systems to perform testing and result interpretation.
- Microsoft Office skills.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, College of American Pathology, and/or AABB accreditation standards.
