Lab Section Lead, Medical Technologist, ASCP

About the role

Join us as a Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Technologist and make a difference! We are looking for self-motivated individuals with a desire to learn, excel in fast-paced environments, and possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and special clinical laboratory tests on patient specimens.
• Correlate and interpret data based on knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments.
• Investigate problems, perform corrective and preventative maintenance of equipment, prepare reagents, instruct students and new employees, and perform data entry and interpretation of test results.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, co-workers, and other organizational staff.
• Observe and follow established departmental environment of care and safety protocols and practices.
• Attend departmental, organizational, and continuing education meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (MT) license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners required.
• Or, Clinical Laboratory Technician (MLT) license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners required.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to exercise judgment in applying practices, procedures, and techniques to resolve clearly defined work-related issues.

• Thorough knowledge of the operation and principles of departmental instrumentation.
• Accurate interpretation and reporting of laboratory test results.
• Effective communication with physicians, nursing staff, co-workers, and other organizational staff.
