Job Summary

Shift options: 3(12)s or 7 on 7 off. 7 on 7 off consists of 3(12)s and 4(10)s.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years' experience required
• Registered Laboratory Technician with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or American Medical Technologists

Qualifications

• BLS certification
• 2 years of experience

Skills

• Ability to perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures
• Ability to determine presence of normal and abnormal components in blood
• Ability to perform blood group, type, and compatibility tests
• Ability to study cells and morphology
• Ability to review quality controls and decide if results are within acceptable ranges
• Ability to participate in scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of instruments
• Ability to perform proficiency testing as assigned
• Ability to conduct quality control testing and data analysis
• Ability to prepare solutions, stains, reagents, and other equipment and supplies
• Ability to review reports, accession logs, computer-generated reports, and other information produced in the clinical laboratory
• Ability to establish and control testing sites to ensure appropriate environmental conditions
• Ability to maintain professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education programs and mandatory staff meetings
• Ability to prepare clear, technically sound, accurate, and informative reports of tests, analyses, and examinations
• Ability to collect blood specimens via venipuncture and capillary puncture
• Ability to provide instructions to patients and their families on proper specimen collection and aftercare
• Ability to prepare and affix labels to specimen vials for proper identification
• Ability to participate in departmental orientation, on-the-job training, and quality assurance programs
• Ability to attend department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels
