About the role

The MedEx internship at St. Mary's Medical Center is a work-based opportunity designed to provide hands-on patient care experience in a clinical setting. Students are supervised by appropriate clinical staff members after successfully completing prerequisite courses in the Health Science Program of Study.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care activities under supervision
• Learn and apply basic medical procedures and techniques
• Support clinical staff in maintaining a safe and efficient patient care environment

Requirements

• High school senior
• Selected to participate in the MedEx program in Cabell or Wayne County
• Choose a health career pathway for in-depth study (Patient Care Technician or Medical Assistant)

Qualifications

• Strong interest in healthcare
• Good communication skills
• Ability to follow instructions and learn new procedures
