About the role
The role involves assisting providers during patient examinations, managing patient records, and performing various clerical tasks.
Responsibilities
- Prepares exam rooms for patient encounters
- Assists LIP as requested
- Directs patients to examination rooms
- Assists in preparing patients for examination
- Notifies provider of patient's arrival and readiness for their examination
- Aids providers with patient examinations
- Reviews charts prior to patients' scheduled appointment
- Records medical history, current medications, treatments, and problem list accurately
- Obtains and records patient vital signs, temperature, pulse, and blood pressure
- Assists with patient equipment downloads
- Accurately documents and maintains patient care records
- Performs clerical duties such as patient registration, billing, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and initiating, maintaining and filing medical records
- Assists with equipment cleaning, disinfection, and pasteurization
- Disseminates and communicates accurate patient information
- Accurately inputs data in the registration, electronic medical record, database and scheduling systems
- Aids patients to complete essential paperwork and questionnaires
- Ensures exam rooms are cleaned after each patient and appropriately stocked with necessary supplies, equipment and forms
- Practices proper infection control techniques
- Cross-trained to perform Patient Reception Rep job duties as needed
- Performs other selected clinical and clerical duties as directed by a provider and manager
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of work experience as a medical assistant, EMT or other direct patient care related role
- AHA BLS certification
- Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures
- Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of vital signs, medical terminology, basic computer basic data entry skills; and medical record management
