Mechatronics Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift

About the Role
A Mechatronics Maintenance Tech at Royal is an essential role focused on keeping our manufacturing equipment performing at its best. This position requires experience with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, controls (PLCs), and/or robotics. If you enjoy hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving in a production environment, this role is for you. Based at our Hudsonville-Quincy facility, this position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.
Schedule
Training will take place on 1st shift (8am–4pm) for 2–4 months, depending on experience. After training, you’ll transition to 2nd shift: 4pm–12am. We also offer a 4x10’s shift (2nd: 4pm–2am).
Responsibilities
- Maintenance and repair of industrial machinery, including hydraulic and electric injection molding machines, gantry and articulating robots, auxiliary/support equipment, and custom-designed assembly equipment.
- Understand complex electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, such as:
- Servo electric drives/motors
- Digital and analog control systems
- Closed-loop proportional controls
- Hydraulic pumps, directional control, and logic (cartridge) valves
- Ball screws and precision mechanical control
- Apply metrology for precision setup and maintenance.
- Utilize predictive maintenance technologies, such as infrared thermography and ultrasonic measurement.
- Apply education, theory, and mathematics to equipment maintenance.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or 3–5 years of solid manufacturing experience.
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing maintenance.
- Experience with injection molding, custom automation, and PLC programming (highly preferred).
- Basic understanding of electrical troubleshooting.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime.
- Ability to work 2nd shift.

- Ability to read electrical, fluid power, and mechanical prints/schematics.

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, and performing repetitive tasks.
- Dexterity to use fingers, hands, and arms for task completion.
- Hand-eye coordination.
