About the Role

ENGEL Machinery North America is seeking a Mechatronics Integrator to assemble, install, troubleshoot, and commission industrial automation cells. This role involves working with linear, SCARA, and articulated industrial robots, bowl feeders, drawer systems, conveyors, machine guarding, safety systems, and other custom automation equipment delivered to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, troubleshoot, and commission industrial automation hardware and software.
  • Perform assembly and installation of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components.
  • Verify power sources and communications.
  • Install and debug software.
  • Validate safety equipment according to safety standards.
  • Set up parameters, sequences, and positions for automation and robotic systems (e.g., VFD & Bowl Feeder parameters, KUKA Safe-Op, FANUC DCS).
  • Ensure systems perform according to sales orders and ENGEL quality standards.
  • Verify completeness of equipment and prepare for shipment.
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of automation cells, including dry or full cycle testing of production cells.
  • Communicate performance and findings to the Project Manager.
  • Maintain agreed-upon run and cycle times.
  • Collaborate with engineers to provide necessary solutions.
  • Perform installation and start-up of automation cells at customer sites, including:
    • Overseeing rigging and setting of equipment.
    • Installing mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components.
    • Ensuring performance and quality of the production cell.
  • Conduct Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and obtain customer sign-off to conclude the automation cell start-up process.
  • Complete final documentation and archive software.
  • Handover to local service technicians and provide system introduction to customer personnel (operators, technicians, engineers).
  • Perform hardware and software retrofits on existing ENGEL automation systems.
  • Learn ENGEL proprietary equipment and controls.
  • Administrative tasks, including:
    • ELAK time tracking.
    • Expense reports.
    • Communication methods and navigating SAP.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), Electromechanical Engineering Technology (EMET), or equivalent training and experience as a control systems integrator.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience in robotics or automation.
  • Preferred robot experience: KUKA, Fanuc.
  • Preferred control experience: Siemens, Allen Bradley, Beckhoff.

Skills

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with high attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), control system processors, industrial instrumentation, and control system analog & digital I/O.
  • Familiarity with control system networks (EtherCAT, Ethernet, Profinet).
  • Experience with graphical and ladder logic programming.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, pneumatic, and electrical schematics.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical information exchanges.
  • Operation of overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Good communication skills to develop and maintain internal and external relationships.

Other Requirements

  • Travel: 30% - 45% per year, with periods of up to 4 weeks. International travel may be required; a valid passport is necessary.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Physical ability to work in a production environment with proper PPE and lift equipment up to 50 lbs.
