Mechatronics Apprentice
About the role
Working with skilled members of our team, apprentices will gain skills in building, troubleshooting, repairing and operating precision grinding equipment while simultaneously attaining an Associate Degree in Mechatronics from Sinclair University. This role is a hybrid between classroom learning and on-the-job experience. Those selected for the apprenticeship program will receive a full scholarship from United Grinding to attend Sinclair University. Additionally, apprentices will receive full-time pay and benefits, payment for books and expenses, along with time to attend classes while “on-the-clock.”
Responsibilities
- Learn with the company’s assigned experienced staff
- Participate in classes and any workshops that might take place on-site or off-site
- Complete the prescribed tests and assignments
- Gain knowledge, skills and experience
- Demonstrate effort, commitment and professionalism
- Work safely, following all rules and guidance
- Support the production/operations team
Requirements
Minimum qualifications: high school diploma or GED; must pass entrance exam for Sinclair University.
- Gain knowledge, skills and experience throughout the apprenticeship
- Learn about the industry and specific best practices in that field
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Periodic overnight domestic and international travel may be required
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles
- Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and vibration
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
- Ability to reach in all directions, bend, twist, stoop, sit, kneel, crawl, push and pull
- Must enter into an Apprenticeship Agreement
