Mechanical Technician (Service Team)

About the role

Paslin is a leader in engineering excellence, innovation, and vertical manufacturing. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Technician to join our Service team. This hands-on role involves assembling components according to blueprints, manuals, engineering requirements, and customer specifications. You’ll work on new tool construction, tool rebuilds, system assembly, product fit-up, tryout, and related mechanical service support in a fast-paced environment that values craftsmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Read, understand, and follow engineering prints, shop orders, and standard work documents for assembly, tryout, dimensional verification, buyoff, teardown, and shipment.
  • Assemble units and complete tools in alignment with design specifications.
  • Lay out plant floors to properly set up equipment per engineering requirements.
  • Disassemble, rig, and package equipment for transport, including loading onto trucks.
  • Rework, repair, and rebuild existing or used tooling scheduled for remanufacture.
  • Fit product to tooling to achieve repeatability and dimensional quality.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and customers in a professional, service-oriented manner.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Work Environment & Schedule

Work location: Hoover Road Site, Warren, MI. This is an on-site role at the local Paslin location with travel of up to 5 days at a time, 2-3 times per month within the USA, Canada, or Mexico during the installation phase of projects.

Expected hours: Typical work schedules are 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Overtime may be required, including early starts, late finishes, or weekend work to meet business needs. During customer site installations, up to 12-hour days may be required.

This position operates in a manufacturing site environment and is safety-sensitive, involving work around moving equipment and machinery. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, twisting, climbing ladders, working on elevated platforms, and using hand-operated tools. Occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of up to 25 lbs is required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • 5+ years of mechanical assembly or machine tool building experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of automated welding processes is a plus.
  • Able to demonstrate a professional and respectful presence with clear communication on technical issues.
  • Experience with overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Experience with disassembly, rigging of equipment, and packaging equipment for transport.
  • Must have own tools.
