Mechanical Technician – Level 2 or Level 3

About the role

At Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one as a Mechanical Technician – Level 2 or Level 3 in Redondo Beach, CA. Spacecraft Technicians assist mechanical engineers in the development, assembly, and integration of space vehicle mechanical and electro-mechanical components, assemblies, and systems. You will devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components or assemblies, participate in developing sub-system and system test methodology, and assist with setting up and testing complete prototype and flight units and sub-assemblies under operational conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist mechanical engineers in the development, assembly, and integration of space vehicle mechanical and electro-mechanical components, assemblies, and systems.
• Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components or assemblies.
• Participate in the development of sub-system and system test methodology.
• Assist with setting up and testing complete prototype and flight units and sub-assemblies under operational conditions.

Requirements

• Level 2: High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
• Level 3: High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience.
• Requires an active Top-Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance at time of application.
• Willing to work any shift and cover extended work weeks as required.
• Demonstrate technical knowledge in manufacturing operations and procedures as it pertains to mechanical assembly, harnessing with a high attention to detail.
• Hands-on knowledge and experience with the use of a variety of hand tools and mechanical equipment.

Qualifications

• AA degree or other two-year technical degree (preferred).
• Familiar with Northrop Grumman Corporation processes (preferred).
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office to supplement work order and other data requirements (preferred).
• Comprehension with reading drawings, process specification, and work order instructions (preferred).
• Experience working in clean room environments (preferred).
• Proficient in use of precision measuring instruments (preferred).

Pay

• Level 2 Primary Salary Range: $56,000.00 – $93,400.00
• Level 3 Secondary Salary Range: $66,600.00 – $111,000.00

The above salary ranges represent general guidelines; Northrop Grumman considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.

Schedule

The position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80 schedule, allowing employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Travel is required approximately 10% of the time.
