About the role

We are looking for a Prototype Assembly Technician specializing in optical system assembly and custom tool operation.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on experience in opto-mechanical and electrical assembly techniques (soldering, lamination, machining)
• A good attention to organization and cleanliness
• Extremely motivated and able to work independently and with ambiguity
• Experience in optical, mechanical and electrical testing (a plus)
• Lamination and processing of optical assemblies for prototypes
• Hands on active alignment of optical modules used in AR devices
• Careful hand assembly work and part processing
• Rework of prototypes and components, both mechanically and electrically
• Operating custom calibration and assembly equipment
• Writing documentation and reports relating to assembly practices and opto-mechanical test data

Requirements

• Mechanical background and aptitude
• 5+ years of experience in a related technical field
• BS in ME, optics or related technical field
• Experience in R&D lab for product development
• Rapid prototyping (multi-disciplinary collection of skills)
• Laser safety experience
• Calibration experience (camera based sensors)
• Experience authoring SOPs for assembly and test

Qualifications

• Familiarity with clean room procedures and equipment
• Optical metrology experience
• Prior work in AR/VR or optical consumer products
