Mechanical Technician
About the role
Textron Systems, a leading developer of high-performance Unmanned Systems, offers a full-time opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to support its growing family of unmanned naval products.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot ocean-going Unmanned Surface Systems and support craft.
- Affiliate with engineers and designers with prototype development and testing.
- Support offsite qualification testing in accordance with written procedures.
- Develop operational and technical manuals.
- Interface with existing and prospective customers and service members at operational and maintenance demonstrations.
- Actively perform lab maintenance, safety audits, and material tracking.
- Promote a safety-first mindset for all on-site lab and off-site testing and personnel.
Qualifications
- Professional written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearance.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret drawings and schematics.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasking.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (on water, away from land).
- Ability to work in tight quarters and confined spaces.
- Ability to swim.
- Ability to work extended hours to meet program goals.
- Knowledge and use of common hand tools required.
- Experience in Diesel Engines strongly preferred.
- Experience assembling maritime systems is strongly preferred.
- Boating or shipboard experience is strongly preferred.
- Experienced small boat handler is a plus.
- Knowledge of test instrumentation and laboratory practices is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Military specifications is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Military hardware is a plus.
