Mechanical Technician

Primary Responsibilities

• Sheet-metal fabrication
• Select appropriate gauges and materials based on product specifications
• Precision layout using templates, drawings, or CAD-derived instructions
• Set up and operate fabrication equipment such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, routers, and other shop machinery
• Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces to meet dimensional and cosmetic requirements
• Mechanical assembly of structural or supportive frameworks according to blueprints and work instructions
• Inspect assemblies and subassemblies for conformance to specifications, tolerances, and workmanship standards
• Repair and maintain sheet-metal products and mechanical assemblies as required
• Stand, walk, climb, and sit as needed; use hands to operate tools and equipment; occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
• Wear ANSI-approved footwear, safety glasses, ear protection, and follow all facility safety protocols

Minimum Skills & Competencies

• Hand-tool proficiency (ability to safely and effectively use mechanical and fabrication hand tools)
• Technical communication (ability to communicate clearly with supervisors, engineers, and team members)
• Basic math skills (ability to work with measurements, fractions, tolerances, and basic mathematical concepts used in fabrication)

Minimum Education & Experience

• A High School Diploma or GED is required
• At least 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing, sheet-metal work, mechanical assembly, or a related technical trade is preferred
