About the Role
This individual will contribute professional and technical knowledge to increase the effectiveness of operating systems, enhance product quality, and identify cost-effective solutions while lowering expenses. The role involves performing maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment to prevent mechanical failure, and modifying, replacing, and repairing parts to keep the plant running safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Enter work orders into computer systems, monitor required work, and track parts inventory.
- Perform expert upkeep and repairs on mechanical and physical structures using sketches, blueprints, and drawings.
- Prioritize planned equipment shutdowns by conducting preventative routine maintenance, diagnostics, part replacements, and equipment testing.
- Evaluate the relevance of procedures and the suitability of engineering equipment.
- Inspect mechanical equipment to identify potential problems and participate in process improvement efforts to address inefficiencies and design flaws.
- Collaborate with team members to resolve problems, determine root causes, recommend improvements, and make mechanical adjustments.
- Manage and collaborate with vendors and contractors to monitor and enhance output, advancing technology while maintaining plant safety.
- Perform or assist with operations to maintain workflow, schedules, and quality requirements.
- Inform management of unusual equipment issues or the need for additional materials and supplies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety protocols and equipment operating instructions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school, or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a related field (preferred).
- Excellent communication, analytical, documentation, and computer skills.
- Strong electrical, mechanical, and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience in welding and machining (preferred).
- Industrial Millwright certification.
- Experience with precision alignment, vibration analysis, or predictive maintenance technologies.
- Experience in a paper, tissue, converting, packaging, or other continuous manufacturing environment.
