About the role

Space Systems has an opening for a Mechanical Technician 1/2 to join our team in Redondo Beach, California. This role involves assisting mechanical engineers in the development, assembly, and integration of Space Vehicle mechanical and electro-mechanical components, assemblies, and systems. You will devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components or assemblies, participate in sub-system and system test methodology development, and assist with setting up and testing complete prototype and flight units under operational conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist mechanical engineers in the development, assembly, and integration of mechanical and electro-mechanical components, assemblies, and systems.
  • Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components or assemblies.
  • Participate in the development of sub-system and system test methodology.
  • Set up and test complete prototype and flight units and sub-assemblies under operational conditions.
  • Work in a clean room environment (preferred).
  • Read and comprehend drawings, process specifications, and work order instructions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Mechanical Technician 1: 0 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • Mechanical Technician 2: 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security clearance (SCI, TS).
  • Willing to work any shift and cover extended work weeks as required.
  • Technical knowledge in manufacturing operations and procedures, particularly mechanical assembly and harnessing with a high attention to detail.
  • Hands-on experience with a variety of hand tools and mechanical equipment.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AA degree or other two-year technical degree.
  • Familiarity with Northrop Grumman Corporation processes.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office for work order and data requirements.
  • Experience working in clean room environments.
  • Proficiency in the use of precision measuring instruments.
  • Current SCI, TS clearance.

Pay

Primary Level Salary Range: $47,200.00 - $78,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $56,000.00 - $93,400.00

The salary range represents a general guideline; actual offers consider factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results.

Schedule

This position follows a 9/80 work schedule, allowing employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. Travel is required, approximately 10% of the time.
