Position Summary
The Mechanical Systems Project Manager leads the design, development, and continuous improvement of our mechanical systems product portfolio. This role manages cross-functional projects from concept through implementation, partnering with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Marketing, and other teams to deliver projects on time while meeting cost, quality, and lead-time objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead new product development and sustain engineering projects from concept through commercial launch, partnering with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and success criteria aligned with business goals.
- Develop and manage project plans, budgets, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality expectations.
- Drive effective communication across project teams and provide regular status updates to leadership and key stakeholders.
- Oversee the design, development, and continuous improvement of CO₂ refrigeration racks, heat pumps, and condensing units.
- Research emerging technologies, industry trends, regulations, and competitive products to support product innovation and strategy.
- Evaluate, qualify, and onboard new components and suppliers while maintaining strong technical partnerships with vendors.
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation, product specifications, regulatory documentation, and project reports.
- Coordinate prototype builds and special product orders, supporting manufacturing through assembly, testing, and validation.
- Support new product industrialization activities, including ERP data management, product configuration, engineering documentation, selection software updates, and commercial support materials.
- Drive continuous product improvement initiatives by incorporating feedback from customers, field service, manufacturing, and quality teams.
- Ensure products comply with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements, including UL, ETL, DOE, ASHRAE, CE, and other relevant certifications.
- Monitor project KPIs, identify opportunities for improvement, and capture lessons learned to strengthen future project execution.
Requirements
- Initial long-term international travel is required to understand and adapt factory requirements for the U.S. market.
- Ongoing travel—both domestic and international—will occur periodically for after-sales support, trade shows, supplier visits, and similar activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Proven project management experience in a product development, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to drive projects to successful completion.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects in a collaborative, international environment.
- Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
- Curious, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement and innovation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across functions and with external suppliers.
- Six Sigma certification or other continuous improvement certification is preferred.
