About the Role

The Mechanical Superintendent supervises craft employees in specific construction discipline work areas and supports the estimating team with project estimates.

Responsibilities

  • Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values.”
  • Plans and supervises work activities, determining construction methods, safety procedures, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment needs, temporary power sources, and work schedules while documenting actual hours worked.
  • Oversees precision of rotating and static equipment.
  • Coordinates assigned work with different crafts, company departments, and/or other contractors.
  • Maintains liaison with safety, engineering, estimating, and planning departments to ensure compliance with safety policies, drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Assists in resolving construction problems and safety issues.
  • Supports estimates and proposal development.
  • Conducts accident investigations with the safety department.
  • Maintains communication with HR to requisition required manpower.
  • Monitors craft compliance with project safety programs, documents issues, and ensures corrective measures are implemented.
  • Maintains liaison with Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering to ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support craft activities and project schedules.
  • Conducts field safety audits and maintains a complete understanding of the Corporate Safety Manual and requirements.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as directed.

Requirements

  • 6+ years’ experience in a similar facility, including construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures.
  • 1+ years’ experience supervising craft employees.
  • 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling and cost control.
  • Ability to supervise large groups and apply innovative, effective management techniques to maximize performance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to conduct job walks, document thorough and accurate observations, and estimate tasks using Excel spreadsheets.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
