About the role

The Mechanical Solar Foreman leads field teams in the installation of utility-scale, ground-mount solar systems (1-25 MWDC) and supports a wide range of industrial, mechanical, and construction projects. This is a working foreman role where you'll be in the field, supervising and performing tasks alongside your crew.

Responsibilities

  • Measure, cut, assemble, hoist, anchor, and place solar modules and racking
  • Install racking foundation piles within tight manufacturer tolerances
  • Install photovoltaic solar racking and modules in accordance with codes and standards, using drawings, schematics, and installation manuals
  • Maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control
  • Run conduit and cables from solar panels to combiner boxes
  • Operate machinery such as but not limited to forklifts, man-lifts, excavators, dozers, and pile drivers

Requirements

  • 4+ years of mechanical solar installation experience, including Single Axis Tracker and Fixed Tilt systems
  • 4+ years of supervisory experience in industrial construction
  • Experience installing Fixed Tilt Systems, including manufacturers such as APA, NexTracker, TerraSmart, Solar FlexRack, and Schletter
  • Experience installing Single Axis Tracker Systems, including manufacturers such as ATI, NexTracker, TerraSmart, FTC, Solar FlexRack, and GameChange
  • Working knowledge of construction software such as Procore
  • Knowledge of industry standard pile refusal and remediation practices
  • Knowledge of pile load testing (compression, lateral, and axial)

Qualifications

  • Basic electrical knowledge in an industrial setting is a strong plus
  • Adaptability and a solid base in construction fundamentals are key
  • Thrives in the outdoors, enjoys leading hands-on teams
  • Willingness to build renewable energy infrastructure and other essential systems
