Mechanical Shop Technician

Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers and general contractors to install and service wind tunnels
• Travel to customer sites to install and commission research wind tunnels
• Provide technical support to customers on how to operate the wind tunnels
• Cookordination with the company’s mechanical engineers for structural analysis and FEA when required
• Have the ability to work with various groups of people with a broad level of technical skills

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication
• Basic knowledge of design for CNC machining
• Experience in design of machinery components and systems would be a plus
• Familiarity with motion control systems is strongly preferred
• Experience in computer aided drafting techniques and standard engineering practices
• Familiarity with engineering terminology
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office and Word Processing software
• Good time management skills, high work ethics
• Positive contributor to team participation
• Focused, methodical with good analytical skills
• Familiarity with machine shop practices and associated equipment is a plus
• Able to handle multiple activities to meet target dates
• Able to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Good communication skills and ability to work in teams

Pay

$17.00 - $24.00 per hour

Schedule

The position is based at Aerolab’s main facility in Jessup MD. Travel is expected up to 50% of the time; may occasionally include international travel.
