Mechanical Repair Technician III (Avionics) - 1st Shift (Onsite)

About the Role

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Mechanical Repair Technician III (Avionics) to test, troubleshoot, and repair avionics units. This 1st shift position operates Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM (overtime may be required).

Responsibilities

• Test products for load capabilities, mechanical characteristics, polarity, voltage, amperage, inductance, shorts, grounds, circuit continuity, and physical properties.
• Troubleshoot analog and digital circuits to the component level.
• Perform routine repair activities on avionics equipment, including surface mount and thru-hole solder repair.
• Maintain materials, equipment, and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Comply with Collins Aerospace rules and regulations, including Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S), Ethics, and International Trade Compliance.
• Complete assigned tasks within the scope and skill level of the role to support department goals.
• Check work methods and results for conformance to standards; report progress and failures to leadership.
• Manage all aspects of the repair process: receiving, inspection, cleaning, tear-down, documentation, repair, reassembly, and packaging.
• Wear appropriate PPE, attend EH&S trainings, and report unsafe conditions.

• Frequent standing, sitting, stooping.
• Occasional climbing, balancing, crouching, reaching.

What You Will Learn

• Proper testing, troubleshooting, and repair of avionics equipment.
• End-to-end repair process: receiving, inspecting, cleaning, tear-down, documentation, repair, reassembly, and packaging.
• Broad exposure to product testing.

Requirements

• High school diploma (or equivalent, e.g., GED) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in electronics within a manufacturing or service environment.
• This position is safety-sensitive per FAA guidelines; candidates will be subject to drug and alcohol testing under 14 CFR part 120 and 49 CFR part 40.

Preferred Qualifications

• AAS degree in Electronics.
• Prior military experience.
• Proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers (triggering, waveform capture, comparisons).
• Knowledge of electronic theory, including microprocessor-based products.
• Ability to guide others in electronic troubleshooting techniques and repair.
• Experience interpreting schematics and technical drawings.
• Intermediate computer skills (typing, navigating software, learning new programs).
