Mechanical Repair Technician III - 1st Shift (Onsite)

This position is onsite in Miramar, FL and requires U.S. citizenship, U.S. permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status.

About the role

At Collins Aerospace, a leader in technologically advanced, intelligent solutions for the aerospace and defense industry, you will perform varied and complex tasks within the Electric Power and Accessories shop. You will disassemble, clean, inspect, assemble, and final prep at least 80% of components, resolving most questions and problems independently. This role is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA guidelines and requires drug and alcohol testing per FAA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Participate in continuous improvement and environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) initiatives.
• Understand and deliver on individual and departmental performance goals.
• Work closely with supervisors and support personnel to resolve problems.
• Enter and retrieve information from the SAP operating system for daily activities.
• Maintain safe work habits and a neat, orderly work area.
• Follow FAA and company regulations for assigned work.
• Interface with customers, including government personnel or auditors, as necessary.
• Inspect and disposition components and modules; rework, repair, scrap, or replace/order components as required.
• Assemble, disassemble, clean, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electronic accessory components, including testing.
• Check clearances, tolerances, and alignment; make necessary replacements and adjustments to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Record data to accept or reject components based on approved maintenance criteria.
• Identify proper parts using part numbers and serialization.
• Verify electrical continuity, insulation resistance testing, and dielectric testing of electromechanical devices.
• Independently follow through on job assignments, resolving questions and problems.
• Support and participate in EH&S, Quality, and HR Employee Engagement initiatives.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., G.E.D.) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with CMM, technical sheets, work instructions, and/or blueprints.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English (meet FAR 65.71(a)(2) and FAR 145.155(b) requirements).

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of work experience in the aerospace industry, preferably in an MRO environment.
• A&P license or currently attending A&P school.
