Mechanical Project Engineer - Intralogistics Hardware Integration

Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in delivering complex logistics and automation solutions by bridging engineering studies, supplier execution, and project delivery.
  • Act as the main interface with clients to advise on the hardware design of Exotec's solutions.
  • Cook up a hardware project team, including task allocation, follow-up, and reporting to the project management team.
  • Lead hardware system technical decisions, ensuring compliance with technical, budgetary, and scheduling constraints.
  • Approve specifications for all hardware design and study activities, whether handled internally or outsourced.
  • Manage external suppliers (including Tier-1 equipment providers) from the study phase through commissioning on projects involving complex systems.
  • Ensure compatibility and coherence between all integrated equipment and the client's system architecture.
  • Facilitate the handover of designed equipment to project operations and deployment teams.
  • Provide technical support to project operations teams, on-site or remotely, as required.
  • Support, mentor, and share expertise with Hardware Integration Engineers within the team, particularly on technical rigor and supplier interactions.
  • Champion and ensure adherence to Exotec's culture, values, processes, and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, mechatronics, automation, or a related field.
  • ~5 years of experience working on hardware integration projects, ideally within intralogistics, warehousing, or automated material-handling projects.
  • Strong hands-on CAD experience in a professional setting, including producing and reviewing layouts and installation drawings.
  • Demonstrated experience leading hardware design studies and making system-level technical decisions.
  • Pristine track record managing external suppliers or partners, ideally Tier-1 equipment providers, from study phase through commissioning.
  • Comfortable acting as a technical interface with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance technical, budgetary, and scheduling constraints in decision-making.
  • Strong communication and synthesis skills, with the ability to work autonomously within project teams.
