JOB SUMMARY
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Captures mechanical design efforts for multiple Designers and external sources, collaborating closely with customers, vendors, and internal departments.
- Ensures designs adhere to contractual requirements, customer standards, and RWC specifications.
- Collaborates with the job controller/project manager to document, organize, and transfer project information.
- Reviews individual designs with the Chief Engineer, responsible designer, and customers.
- Guides and assists designers and layout drafters with design-related issues.
- Maintains productivity among designers, layout drafters, and detailers to meet project schedules and assigned hours.
- Updates the engineering planning system for assigned projects weekly.
- Fills out and completes required paperwork, engineering bid pac, engineering status sheet, preferred components, design criteria, etc.
- Provides information to the electrical and fluid power engineers to maintain project timelines.
- Maintains and controls customer part prints.
- Documents notes from weekly design reviews.
- Safeguards information in the EMTN (Engineering, Manufacturing Technical Notebook).
- Identifies and documents any engineering P.S.C.R.F.’s.
- Schedules RFM dates, design dates, and manufacturing pre-build reviews.
- Ensures design reviews and approvals are completed with the Chief Engineer before RFM.
- Follows the “Mechanical Design Process” gates flow chart.
- Schedules M.E. weekly design reviews with relevant personnel.
- Aids in scheduling customer design reviews and approvals.
- Aids in scheduling manufacturing pre-build reviews.
- Travels to customer facilities for meetings, design reviews, or as needed.
- Understands proposals, RFSO’s, and design criteria to ensure designs meet contractual requirements.
- Fulfills RWC corporate and engineering ISO-9001 procedures.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent ten (10) years of experience in the Mechanical Engineering field.
- Advanced knowledge of Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Mechanical Drafting, and Mechanical Engineering principles.
- Strong analytical skills to resolve design and assembly problems.
- Basic computer skills and ability to adapt to relevant software.
- Effective interpersonal skills for interacting with all levels of management, customers, vendors, and employees.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ten (10) years of experience with SolidWorks 3D and AutoCAD and other associated software.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Normal drafting room environment with minimal discomfort due to dust, noise, temperature, etc.
- Occasional exposure to manufacturing processes with slightly higher noise levels.
- Occasional domestic and international travel, including air and ground travel.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to the Manager of Engineering.
