Mechanical Piping Designer

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Piping Designer to join our team. This role involves designing fusible thermoplastic piping systems and custom mechanical assemblies for various industries including industrial, municipal, energy, and mission-critical applications.

Responsibilities

• Create and refine detailed 3D models, piping layouts, and fabrication fixtures for piping systems
• Design custom assemblies such as manifolds, skids, transitions, supports, and more
• Apply industry standards (ASME, ASTM, ISO) to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant designs
• Produce manufacturing drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), cut lists, and installation documentation
• Translate customer and site requirements into practical, buildable solutions
• Partner with manufacturing to optimize designs for fabrication and assembly
• Select valves, fittings, and system components based on performance and code requirements
• Support projects from concept through production alongside engineering, project managers, and sales
• Participate in prototype builds, troubleshoot production issues, and drive continuous improvement
• Standardize design practices and templates
• Provide technical support during field installations
• Bring a friendly, service-oriented mindset to every interaction

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field
• 3+ years of mechanical piping design or piping layout experience
• Intermediate to advanced CAD skills
• A strong understanding of piping systems, assemblies, and mechanical design principles
• Experience with skid design or custom industrial equipment
• Background in fusible thermoplastic, HDPE, or other piping systems (a big plus)
• Familiarity with ASME/ASTM/ISO piping standards
• Hands-on experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or field installation
• Strong communication and collaborative skills
