Mechanical Pipe Foreman

Responsibilities

• Selects type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and valves, according to job specifications.
• Assists foreman in planning the sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers.
• Cuts pipe using pipe cutter, pipe saw, power tools (band saw), and pipe cutting machine.
• Threads pipe using threading machine.
• Mounts pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceiling to hold pipe.
• Assembles and installs a variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings, using threaded, wrapped, soldering, brazing, fused, or cemented joints, and hand tools.
• Sets and aligns process equipment like pumps and blowers.
• Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

• Always attentive to detail and alert to ensure safety.
• Ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers.
• Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines.
• Ability to read drawings including but not limited to pipe shop drawings, mechanical drawings, and P&ID’s.
• Excellent physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy objects.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to lead a crew of 3-8 employees in safe and productive execution of the work.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and conduct safe start meetings with the crew daily.
• Track and document crew hours worked and phase timesheets.
• Track and measure production of the crew.
• Plan work activities to ensure proper tools and on-time delivery of materials and equipment.

Physical Demands

• Significant physical exertion, including the ability to navigate active construction areas with uneven terrain, temporary and permanent stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and personnel hoists.
• Frequent standing, walking, and performing repetitive physical tasks.
• Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving objects weighing over 50 pounds with assistance or team lifting techniques.
• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and reaching (above and below shoulder level).
• Sufficient physical dexterity and balance to work safely at various heights and in confined spaces.
• Adequate hearing (with or without assistive devices) is required to understand instructions and warnings in a noisy environment.

Work Environment

• Regularly works outdoors and may be exposed to varying and potentially extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow.
• Exposure to moving mechanical equipment, high noise levels, dust, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, and potential electrical hazards.
• Work regularly occurs at heights and in confined spaces.
• Must be able to work safely around heavy equipment and construction traffic.
• The noise level in the work environment is typically loud, requiring the consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, and adherence to all Clark Construction’s comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
• Frequently works more than 40 hours per week due to the nature of the projects, deadlines, and client's requirements.
