Reports to the Maintenance Manager and works both independently and in a team environment to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, and document planned and unplanned maintenance activities of production equipment.

About the role

The Mechanic Maintenance Technician performs general maintenance and repairs on production equipment, with occasional support for facility repairs. All work is conducted in compliance with FDA, DEA, EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories.
  • Execute preventative and corrective repairs of manual, semi-automatic, and automatic production or indirect production-related equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment downtime using schematics, equipment manuals, and control system interfaces.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and establishing personal networks.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing assigned work in a timely manner.
  • Perform complete teardown and rebuild of production equipment and its components.
  • Maintain spares inventory.
  • Diagnose and repair pneumatic components.
  • Respond quickly to emergencies, notify appropriate personnel, and follow safety and quality protocols.
  • Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment (e.g., HVAC, refrigeration, water purification systems, and production equipment) using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring instruments, including preventive maintenance.
  • Participate in safety and EH&S programs.
  • May initiate purchase orders for parts and machines.
  • May author or revise preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and/or equivalent experience required.
  • 3+ years of experience in equipment and machine maintenance.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic and vacuum systems, electrical wiring, and PLCs.
  • Experience with servo-driven equipment.
  • Organizational and documentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work in both team and individual environments.
  • Experience with 503B regulatory requirements, cGMP standards, and USP guidelines is a plus.
  • Proficient written, verbal, and oral English communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, climb, or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in small compartments at floor level.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds periodically.
  • Ability to maintain a gowning qualification.
