Mechanical Maintenance - Level III (2nd shift)
About the role
We are looking for a talented Mechanical Maintenance - Level III (2nd shift) to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Jamestown, NY.
Responsibilities
- Increase equipment availability by troubleshooting, repairing, assembling, installing, and maintaining mechanical systems so production equipment stays capable and ready when the operation needs it.
- Strengthen workplace safety by stopping unsafe work, reporting hazards immediately, using proper PPE, and helping build an interdependent safety culture where everyone looks out for one another.
- Elevate workmanship and quality by applying high standards of craftsmanship, following diagrams and specifications precisely, performing quality inspections, and raising issues early to prevent costly failures.
- Reduce downtime and improve reliability by supporting failure analysis, documenting preventive and corrective maintenance, and providing feedback that strengthens the preventive-maintenance system.
- Enhance operational efficiency by scheduling maintenance around production needs, identifying and reducing manufacturing constraints, and keeping work areas clean, organized, and audit-ready.
- Develop team capability by instructing and coaching less-experienced team members, serving as an informal technical resource, and sharing best practices that raise the skill level of the entire team.
- Drive continuous improvement by solving problems collaboratively, improving processes, and participating actively in TPM initiatives that enhance quality, safety, material flow, and equipment performance.
- Grow technical and professional strength by completing required training, expanding your mechanical and safety knowledge, and adapting to new tasks and technologies that support evolving business goals.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

- Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

Maintaining and repairing industrial machines (both scheduled PMs and emergency fixes)
Troubleshooting breakdowns quickly to minimize downtime
Working across multiple systems: mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and some electrical
Supporting all labs within Jamestown Technical Center organization - This Is Not a Light-duty Role
You’ll be on your feet, hands-on, and often responding to urgent breakdowns
You’ll need broad mechanical knowledge, not just one specialty
It’s a mix of reactive (fix it now) and proactive (prevent it later) work
This is a broad, jack-of-all-trades mechanical role—not specialized in just one system
Machine repair journeyman certificate preferred.
Pay
$2.29 shift premium in addition to base pay
