About the role
SAFEbuilt is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Building Official. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations, conducting inspections, and providing technical guidance to developers and contractors.
Responsibilities
- Review construction plans and ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations.
- Conduct routine and special inspections of construction sites to ensure adherence to safety standards and building codes.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to developers, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding building code requirements.
- Issue permits and maintain accurate records of all issued permits.
- Respond to complaints and inquiries related to building code violations.
- Participate in public meetings and provide input on zoning and land use issues.
- Keep abreast of changes in building codes and regulations through professional development activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in building inspection or related field.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Qualifications
- Experience with building permit processing and record keeping.
- Knowledge of construction materials and methods.
- Ability to perform basic calculations and measurements.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Proficiency in computer software such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and Adobe Creative Suite.

Pay
$80,000 - $90,000 annually based on experience.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
