Mechanical Inspector

About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Building Official. This position will be responsible for overseeing building inspections, ensuring compliance with local building codes, and providing technical guidance to developers and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Oversee building inspections to ensure compliance with local building codes and standards.
• Provide technical guidance to developers and contractors on building code requirements and best practices.
• Review construction plans and permit applications to ensure they meet code requirements.
• Conduct code enforcement inspections to identify non-compliance and issue citations as necessary.
• Work closely with other departments within the city to coordinate building projects and ensure seamless project management.
• Participate in public meetings and provide expert testimony on building code issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in building inspection, preferably in a municipal setting.
• Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with building information modeling (BIM).
• Knowledge of construction materials and techniques.

Pay

Salary range: $70,000 - $90,000 annually.
