About the role
Location: Near Mentone, TX
Requirements
- Current AWS CWI certification (required)
- 5+ years mechanical inspection experience specifically in gas processing/cryogenic/NGL plants
- Processing facility and/or fabrication shop experience (not pipeline-only welding inspectors)
- Strong ASME B31.3 process piping code knowledge
- Working knowledge of ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, API 570 preferred
- Ability to read P&IDs, isometrics, fab drawings, equipment data sheets
Responsibilities
- Inspect process piping (incl. high-pressure ANSI 600+/cryogenic), pressure vessels, compressors, pumps, heat exchangers (BAHX/shell & tube), amine treating equipment, fractionation equipment
- Serve as primary CWI — verify welder quals, WPS/PQR compliance, weld quality
- Witness/document hydro, pneumatic, and leak testing; coordinate NDE (RT/UT/MT/PT)
- Issue and track punch list items, review welding/MTR/test package documentation
- Support PSM elements (MOC, PSSR), mechanical completion walkdowns, turnover packages
- Daily reporting via Procore
