About the Role

Under general supervision, performs product inspection and/or audits of quality assurance programs. Performs sampling and testing of incoming components, raw materials, packaging line, and manufacturing inspections. Inspects and tests product manufactured or processed by suppliers to ensure conformance to requirements and specifications. Identifies material and processes as conforming or nonconforming. Writes simple reports of findings for review and enters required data into the system. Follows established procedures on routine work with minimal guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret drawings, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
  • Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications, including mechanical, electrical, and/or chemical inspections.
  • Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems and assist in identifying and correcting these problems.
  • Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products and recommend necessary corrective actions.
  • Record inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, or moisture content, and quantities inspected or graded.
  • Mark items with details such as grade or acceptance-rejection status.
  • Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
  • Compare colors, shapes, textures, or grades of products or materials with color charts, templates, or samples to verify conformance to standards.
  • Write test or inspection reports describing results, recommendations, or needed repairs.
  • Prepare first article reports and enter required data into the computer.
  • Document inspection findings and complete rejection reports.
  • Ensure raw materials, in-process, and finished products meet company standards.
  • May apply approval or rejection labels to bulk raw materials once analytical data is evaluated.
  • May assess draft and final label copy, utilizing knowledge of labeling regulations.
  • Minimize downtime by reducing production rework and recalls.
  • Follow established processes/procedures for discarding or rejecting products, materials, or equipment not meeting specifications.
  • Follow all import/export requirements, consulting with facility import/export personnel as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and some degree of vocational or technical training.
  • Minimum of 2 years of directly related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively with other employees of the organization.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word software.
  • US Citizenship with the ability to attain/maintain government security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CMM programming/operation experience with Zeiss Calypso, Hexagon PCDMIS, or Wenzel OpenDMIS software.
  • Laser Tracker/Laser Scanner programming/operation with PCDMIS software.
  • Basic knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen.
  • Knowledge of specific software (design, analysis, ERP…).

Schedule

Day Shift: 5 days a week; 8-hour shifts.
