Job Description

Performing complex construction inspection duties on active job sites
Providing continuous inspection of assigned construction activities to verify compliance with codes, standards, and project specifications
Focusing on one or more technical areas including mechanical, civil, structural, and wastewater equipment
Supporting major wastewater treatment plant, sanitary sewer pipeline, and force main projects
Review and interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications
Verify that materials and workmanship meet project requirements
Inspect construction performed by contractors for wastewater treatment plant facilities, lift stations, and wastewater collection systems
Coordinate equipment and process isolations, shutdowns, and tie-ins
Support project safety efforts, including job hazard analyses
Monitor contractor safety practices and traffic control plans to help maintain a safe environment for employees, contractors, and the public
Assist in maintaining accurate as-built drawings and verify contractor-provided as-builts
Support Resident Engineers with field change orders, plan clarifications, and design changes
Prepare and maintain detailed inspection records, including daily reports, photo logs, field test results, force account reports, extra work requests, submittal files, and project logs
Assist with monthly progress reports and participate in construction meetings
Coordinate with contractors, utilities, regulatory agencies, city officials, and the public to minimize project impacts and support successful project deliver

Required Skills

  • Associate's Degree in a technical discipline or construction-related field, or a high school diploma and equivalent work experience, is required.
  • Also requires 10+ years of related experience on field projects, as well as formal certification from an independent organization, depending on type of inspection assignment.
  • Construction safety training including CalOSHA 10 hour training and Parsons SHARP training.
  • Experience in construction management and QA inspection of large and complex heavy civil engineering/construction projects.
  • Experience as Inspector of at least one (1) relevant, verifiable multi-disciplinary infrastructure construction project or water/wastewater treatment plant project valued at $50 million+
  • At least three (3) years of recent experience using CM software systems
  • Fully knowledgeable of the following: construction inspection methods and current construction techniques, construction materials necessary to determine the quality and correct use in projects, and the safe working habits and regulations in relation to different phases of construction
  • Demonstrate ability to prepare and submit in a timely manner weekly and daily inspection reports
